About Kimi

Oh, hey! That's me! I was born and raised in San Jose, California, a lifelong student of English who has been telling stories before I could hold a crayon. My early writing career was colorful, punctuated by spoken word poetry, stage plays for local children, and even haunted houses. I went on to earn my Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing at St. Mary's College of California (go Gaels!!), where I continued honing my craft and learning how to both honor and upend traditional literary expectations.

Much of my writing is informed by a radical brain surgery that I underwent in 2019, and I'm using this new lease on life to tell the stories that I've always been brewing. As a multidisciplinary writer, I explore both fiction and non-fiction in many forms, weaving tidbits of my own lived experiences into fantastical tales of fame, heartache, and the consequences (both good and bad) of pursuing one's dreams.

Whether on the page or the stage, I aim to leave my audience feeling entertained but unsettled, and (hopefully!) brave enough to chase down what they want.

In the summer of 2023, I traded my flip-flops for hiking boots, upended my entire life, and moved to Portland, Oregon! The Pacific Northwest has been an exceedingly kind mistress, and much of my current work explores and grapples with her mysterious beauty.

But don't just take my word for it- come see me live and hear my work for yourself! I strive to perform at least once weekly at various venues (see my "Performances" tab), and my first published work will debut in May 2026
